What Can You Do During The Songkran Festival Season?

Songkran is just around the corner. If you still have no plans to celebrate the festivities, here’s our list of events that you need to consider attending!
The cultural event is essentially the Thai New Year’s Day. In modern times, the occasion is celebrated over a three day period, from the 13th to the 15th of April every year. This is a time for celebration, and to soak in the festivities.

S2O The World’s Wettest Party Returns
This EDM Songkran Party allows you to dance whilst playing with water. You can still buy tickets to the event, but the event organisers have said that tickets are selling out quickly!

WATERBOMB Bangkok 2023 Presented by Heineken® Silver
WATERBOMB Bangkok 2023 Presented by Heineken® Silver is the first-ever Korean music festival held in Thailand and the first time the event is held outside of Korea. The festival will be filled with K-Hiphop, K-Pop, and EDM music.

Songkran Siam 2023
This year’s Songkran celebration in the Siam area will come in the concept “Songkran Siam Pha Khao Ma Ploi Joy.” For those who are not able to travel to other provinces, you can come and enjoy the water festivities in the heart of the city.

Bangsaen Songkran Festival 2023
The Bangsaen Songkran Festival 2023 offers a variety of activities to participate in, not just water play. Engage in sand pagoda building, merit-making by offering alms to monks, pouring water on Buddha statues, closing gold-leafed Buddha images, traditional sports competitions, and concerts from various artists.

Songkran Phra Pradaeng 2023
The Songkran Phra Pradaeng, also known as the "Pak Lad Songkran" tradition, is a long-standing custom. The highlight of this event is the procession of the Songkran Queen, the Puppa Chakaratch, the Songkran Queen and Male Beauty Pageants, the revival of traditional village games such as Sabai Maran, and the cultural costumes and way of life of the Mon (Thai Raman).

Location: Phra Pradaeng District Office, in the area of the Historic Park of Phra Pradaeng Electric Plant, the Phra Aram Luang Temple, and the Mon community within the municipal area of Phra Pradaeng, Samut Prakan
Songkran Nakhon Si Thammarat 2023
Get ready to enjoy the stunning lights, colours, and sounds, as well as many activities at the Nakhon Si Thammarat Songkran Festival 2023. These include ceremonies to offer sandalwood flowers to the Lord Sri Thammaramath and to collect water from six sacred sources, merit-making ceremony by offering food to monks.
There will also be a ceremony to invite the Buddha image, unveiling ceremony of the Buddha image at Suan Nam Phra Phutthasihingkhon Field, as well as pouring of sacred water, bathing ceremony for elderly people, and procession of the Ho Phra Isuan at the base of the Phra That Si Thammasokarat. Songkran water play activities are also available.

Songkran Chiang Mai 2023
To have a long and fun-filled Songkran water festival, you must go to Chiang Mai because it lasts for several days! Besides the usual water fights around the city walls and moat, there are also local activities, traditional ceremonies such as the pouring of sacred water, light and sound shows, and traditional Lanna performances.
And if you get tired from all the water play, you can visit the local market to try Northern food and buy handicrafts made by local artisans.

Songkran Khon Kaen 2023
This year, the ultimate Northeastern Songkran tradition will take place in Khon Kaen, featuring the Dok Khun Siang Khaen Festival and the Khao Niao Road. The theme for this year's festival is "Sard Sing Sard Sin," with events taking place in two areas:
- Bueng Kaen Nakhon | April 8 -12, 2023
Featuring various traditional activities and games in the Isan style, as well as competitions for the best Dok Khun Siang Khaen and performances of Mor Lam folk music. There will also be sand pagoda building at the Phra That temple.
- The City Pillar Shrine and Khao Niao Road | April 12 - 15, 2023
The highlight of this event is the Human Wave, a non-alcoholic version of the famous Thai water festival activity. Additionally, there will be performances by numerous artists. Let’s enjoy!
Songkran Udon Thani 2023
Udon Thani Songkran Festival 2023 will be held with Bio Economy materials! It comes with a giant water tank that is twice the size of the previous one, and will run for 5 days and 5 nights.
In addition, there will be a music festival within the event featuring world-class DJs such as Mike William, Gammer, Bonka, and more than 40 others.
