If you accidentally drive a car with red licence plates into the M-Flow lane, which is not allowed for such cars, will there be any consequences or penalties? Let's find out with Motorist.
M-Flow lanes do not allow cars with temporary (red) registration plates to enter for the following reasons:
- M-Flow is an automated toll collection system:
- Instead of using barriers, M-Flow uses cameras and RFID technology to register vehicles and collect tolls
- Vehicles with red licence plates do not have registered numbers yet, so their identities cannot be determined and tolls cannot be collected
- Cracking down on unregistered vehicles:
- Some people may use M-Flow lanes to avoid registering their vehicles, which is illegal
What should I do if I accidentally drive a car with temporary plates through M-Flow?
In the event that a driver unintentionally enters an M-Flow lane while driving a red-plated vehicle, they are required to promptly proceed to one of the four designated "Toll Collection Offices" to settle the toll payment. The four designated offices are as follows.
- Thanyaburi Toll Plaza 1
- Thanyaburi Toll Plaza 2
- Thaphachang Toll Plaza 1
- Thaphachang Toll Plaza 2
Opening hours:
- Monday - Friday: 8:30 AM - 6:30 PM
- Saturday - Sunday and Public Holidays: 8:30 AM - 5:30 PM.
In case you are unable to pay the toll fee at the toll booth for your new car (red plates) that has passed through the M-Flow system, please follow these steps.
- Take a clear photo of the front of your car showing the licence plate
- Note down the date, time, and toll booth location where you passed through.
- Send the photo and information to the M-Flow authority
Motorists can enquire for details at the Department of Highways hotline 1586, press 1 (toll-free 24 hours a day).
