The new driving license is now in effect!

On September 4, 2024, the Royal Gazette announced that the Department of Land Transport has introduced a new format for driving licenses. The updated version includes the addition of a Red Cross symbol for drivers who wish to donate organs to the Thai Red Cross Society. This regulation has been in effect since August 7, 2024.
"According to the announcement by the Department of Land Transport regarding the format of driving licenses under the Motor Vehicle Act B.E. 2564 (2021), dated January 29, 2021, the driving license format specifies the placement of a Red Cross symbol at the bottom of the license. This is issued to individuals who have donated organs to the Thai Red Cross Society. However, relevant agencies or individuals may not fully understand that the Red Cross symbol indicates the license holder's intention to donate organs.
Therefore, in order to ensure that the wishes of driving license holders who have donated organs are clearly understood, it is deemed appropriate to revise the format of the driving license to make the indication of organ donation more explicit. By virtue of Clause 13 of the Ministerial Regulation on the Application and Issuance of Driving Licenses and the Renewal of Driving Licenses B.E. 2563 (2020), the Director-General of the Department of Land Transport hereby announces the new format of driving licenses as follows:
Clause 1: The format of the driving license attached to the Department of Land Transport's announcement regarding the driving license format under the Motor Vehicle Act B.E. 2564 (2021) is hereby revoked, and the new format attached to this announcement shall be used in its place.
Clause 2: Driving licenses issued before the effective date of this announcement shall remain valid until their expiration.
Clause 3: This announcement shall come into effect from August 7, 2024, onwards."
