Since January 9, 2023, Thailand Has Implemented a Point Deduction System for Traffic Violations
As of January 9, 2023, Thailand has introduced a point deduction system for drivers who violate traffic rules. All drivers start with 12 points, regardless of the type of license they hold. However, committing traffic violations will result in a deduction of 1 to 4 points, depending on the severity of the offense. Additionally, failure to pay fines on time will result in the deduction of 1 point. If a driver's points drop to zero, their license will be suspended for 90 days. Violating the suspension could lead to both fines and imprisonment.
Currently, drivers can check their point balance online through two available platforms.
1. Khub Dee (ขับดี)
Steps to Use the Application:
- Search for "Khub Dee" and download the app from the App Store or Google Play.
- Sign in and accept all terms and conditions.
- Register as a member and fill in your personal information.
- Register your ID card and driving license.
- Once on the main screen, the application will immediately display your driving license points.
2. Police Ticket Management Website
Steps to use the website:
- Go to the website https://ptm.police.go.th/eTicket/#/ and click "Register."
- Fill in all the required information and log in.
- Check your driving behavior points. The system will display your current points, point history, point restoration status, license status, tickets, charges, and violation history.
If you have any questions after checking your traffic ticket, you can dispute it through the system. You can also pay fines online via the E-Ticket system anytime, 24/7, using credit or debit cards, mobile banking, the Paotang app, or payment points marked with the PTM sign.
You can find the criteria for driver's license point deduction here >> https://www.motorist.co.th/en/article/1989/driving-license-scoring-system-implemented
If your points are deducted, you can visit a designated Department of Land Transport office to request point restoration. However, if you fail to improve your behavior and repeatedly get your license suspended, your license may be permanently revoked. So, be cautious not to break traffic laws or leave fines unpaid to ensure your license remains valid for a long time.
