Bentley Confirms Launch of Its First 100% Electric Car in 2026 – An All-New SUV!
Bentley has announced that its first 100% electric vehicle will launch in 2026, a date rescheduled from the original plan for 2025.
This confirmation came from a recent online presentation where Bentley’s new CEO, Frank-Steffen Walliser, provided updates on the brand’s "Beyond100+" strategy, aimed at a sustainable future.
Bentley’s First Electric SUV Will Be Urban-Focused – Perfect for City Life
Walliser revealed that Bentley’s first electric model will be a compact SUV designed in an “Urban SUV” style, ideal for city driving. It will be under 4,998 mm in length, making it shorter than the Bentayga, which is 5,120 mm long. Key features of this model include improved visibility, versatile functionality, and a design aimed at attracting a new segment of Bentley customers.
The CEO shared, “I can’t reveal too much yet, but I can confirm that this model will have an impressive range and fast charging capabilities.” Additionally, Matthias Rabe, Bentley’s head of engineering, stated that Bentley’s electric cars will include a unique synthetic sound that maintains the thrill expected by luxury car enthusiasts.
Long-Term Plan: Bentley Aims to Become a Fully Electric Brand
Bentley has a goal of becoming a fully electric brand by 2035. However, the brand will continue to meet demand for plug-in hybrids and internal combustion engines (ICE) as long as regulations allow and there is still a market. Bentley has also shown interest in eFuel technology, which has been successfully tested in the Continental GT Speed model.
New Factory Paves the Way to Carbon Neutrality
Bentley plans to open a new production facility at its headquarters in Crewe, England, with a 134,119-square-foot paint center set to open in 2025, allowing customers to choose from nearly 100 color options. In addition, a new four-story office building will accommodate over 370 employees. This is part of a £2.5 billion investment plan to enhance production capabilities at the Pyms Lane factory, which handcrafts all Bentley models.
Andreas Lehe, Bentley’s head of manufacturing, stated, “The launch of this new facility is a crucial step in supporting Bentley’s goal to advance in world-class automotive production technology and enhance skills within the luxury car industry.”
