Changan has stirred up drama by slashing its EV prices by nearly 300,000 Baht, despite previously stating it would “never disrupt the ecosystem.” This situation is common among Chinese EV brands; a similar controversy arose when BYD significantly reduced prices, causing a major uproar in the EV industry.

This time, the model at the center of the controversy is the “DEEPAL S07,” with Changan reducing its price by up to 280,000 Baht.

The price cut has left some early buyers feeling “undercut” and treated unfairly, especially for those who bought the car just days before the announcement. One customer who received their car only nine days prior was upset enough to consider filing a complaint with the Consumer Protection Office.

However, some view the price cut positively, seeing it as a move that could boost public interest in EVs and make them more accessible. Ultimately, they see this as a strategic marketing effort by Changan to increase sales, similar to the tactics used by other EV brands.
