Car Thing users will see a notification on their device screen stating, “Car Thing has been discontinued and is no longer usable,” along with instructions to contact customer service for a refund by January 14, 2025.
In 2021, Spotify launched “Car Thing,” a car gadget designed to make it easier for users to access music and podcasts while driving.
While Car Thing’s service has been discontinued, existing users can still use the device. However, Spotify will no longer provide software updates or repair services.
The discontinuation of Car Thing serves as a key lesson for Spotify in developing future products. The company may shift its focus to creating applications or services that are more versatile and provide better value for users.
