Last Year-End, Tesla introduced the “Actually Smart Summon” feature in China
Allowing drivers to summon their cars from parking spots to nearby and visible locations automatically. This feature is available for users with FSD (Full Self-Driving) or EAP (Enhanced Autopilot) software, while those using Basic Autopilot (BAP) are not eligible. Additionally, Tesla offers a promotion allowing customers who trade in their old vehicles to access EAP for free for 30 days.
Previously, Tesla rolled out this feature in the U.S. in September as part of the FSD Supervised update. Users can summon their cars via the Tesla app within a 65-meter range. In November, the feature expanded to Europe and the Middle East, though European regulations limit its range to just 6 meters.
The “Actually Smart Summon” feature helps the car navigate out of parking spots, including tight spaces or those with obstacles like puddles, and pick up drivers at clearly visible locations. This can be particularly useful for drivers carrying heavy items, leading children, or holding infants, as it makes getting into the car more convenient.
However, this feature is not free to use. It requires the purchase of FSD or EAP. In China, FSD is priced at 64,000 yuan (approximately 300,000 Baht), while EAP costs 32,000 yuan (approximately 150,000 Baht).
Tesla introduced FSD in China earlier this year to boost sales through advanced technology. In November, Tesla achieved its highest monthly sales of the year at 73,490 vehicles, bringing the total from January to November to 574,175 units, an 8.77% increase compared to the previous year. Despite Chinese automakers having developed autonomous driving systems up to Level L3, Tesla’s system remains at Level 2.5. Tesla is now working to improve its AI to create a fully autonomous FSD system, which is expected to complement future products like robotaxis.
