How Far in Advance Should You Signal?

It depends on your speed and the situation:

• At 30 km/h, your signal should be visible from 30 meters.
• At 60 km/h, make sure it's visible from 60 meters.

For the driving test, the rule is: “Slow down and signal at least 30 meters before the turn.”

What About Motorcycles?

For motorcycles, signal about 10–15 meters in advance. This gives other drivers time to slow down or adjust their lanes safely.

Do You Need to Signal on a Mandatory Turn Lane?
