On the road full of various sized vehicles, “trucks” are considered one of the largest vehicles and have a significant impact on road safety.

Therefore, communication between trucks and other drivers is quite important. One of the ways trucks communicate is through signal lights, which some people may not know the meaning and how to use them correctly.

Truck signal lights are not new, but how many people know about them, especially new drivers who have never known the language of truck lights, which are very useful for driving, especially when you cannot see the road in front of you due to the obscuration of large vehicles. Reading the lights correctly will help make your journey safer.

1. Rapid left and right turn signals

Many times we often see trucks alternating left and right turn signals, mostly when braking. This signal is a warning that there will be a sudden brake, and importantly, it also prohibits you from overtaking because there may be an accident or a checkpoint ahead.

2. Turn on the left turn signal and pull over to the shoulder of the road

This is usually found on two-lane roads, meaning that they let us overtake to the right, there are no oncoming cars. But if the left turn signal is on in the normal lane and slows down, it means that the truck is about to turn left.

3. Turn on the right turn signal

If the truck turns on the right turn signal and there is no slowing down to prepare to turn. That means don't overtake yet because there may be an oncoming car that we can't see.

4. Honked while driving side by side

Many people may be shocked or think that they have done something wrong, but in fact, it is just a normal greeting from trucks. You can honk back once to greet them as well.

5. Blink their high beams once

If you drive past a truck and see it flashing its high beams, it may mean that there is a checkpoint ahead. If you encounter this, you should slow down and wait.

There are many more truck lights, but just the 5 mentioned can make your journey safer with the help of the big trucks on the road.
