• If a driver accelerates to beat the yellow light instead of slowing down and stopping.
• If the vehicle has not yet crossed the stop line but speeds up to pass the intersection.
• If a driver violates the traffic rules without a valid reason, such as an emergency or urgent necessity.

When Is It Not Considered Illegal?

• If the vehicle has already passed the stop line when the yellow light appears, the driver may continue without violating the law.
• If stopping suddenly could cause an accident, the driver may proceed for safety reasons.

Penalty for Running a Yellow Light

Under the law, those who violate this rule may face a fine of up to 1,000 baht. However, traffic officers have the discretion to assess the situation before issuing a penalty.
