How to Renew a 5-Year Driver’s License for Another 5 Years in 2025: Requirements & Process!

Renewing your driver’s license is essential for all motorists, especially since the lifetime driving license has been discontinued.
Here’s an updated guide from Motorist on how to renew a 5-year driver’s license for another 5 years in 2025, including required documents, procedures, and fees.
Required Documents for Renewing a 5-Year Driver’s License
1. Current driver’s license or a replacement copy
2. Original national ID card
3. Medical certificate issued by a certified doctor (must be within 1 month before the application date)
Renewal Process
1. Complete an online training course via the e-Learning system.
2. Book an appointment through the DLT Smart Queue app or visit the office as a walk-in.
3. Undergo a physical fitness test, including:
- Color vision test
- Depth perception test
- Peripheral vision test
- Foot reaction test
4. Take a photo and have the new license printed.
5. Pay the required fees: Car license: 505 THB and Motorcycle license: 255 THB
Note: Drivers can renew their driving licenses up to 90 days (or 3 months) in advance. If the license has expired for more than 1 year but not exceeding 3 years, a written test is required. If the license has expired for more than 3 years, additional requirements include a written test, a driving test, and a medical certificate issued within the last 1 month.
