Geely auto group aims at BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Audi with reorganised Zeekr
The Chinese automotive giant Geely is aiming for 1 million global sales a year from its Zeekr and Lynk brands, which together sold over 500,000 units in 2024.
According to a Nikkei Asia report, Geely’s goal is to increase the combined worldwide sales of Zeekr and Lynk & Co (which was parked under Zeekr’s umbrella as part of a recent corporate restructure) to 710,000 units in 2025 and 1 million units in 2026.
Achieving the ambitious million-unit target would put Zeekr and Lynk within honking distance of BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Audi, whose respective car sales in 2024 were 2.2 million, 1.98 million and 1.78 million units.
Geely merged Zeekr with Lynk & Co to streamline its core businesses and reduce the two automakers’ internal competition and product overlap.
Nikkei Asia also wrote that Zeekr will target the premium sector, focusing on electric vehicles. Zeekr will continue to offer mid-sized EVs such as the 7X, but will introduce large plug-in hybrids which are likely to share technology with equivalent Lynk cars. Zeekr CEO, An Conghui, has said that Zeekr will launch three new models this year.
Zeekr sold a total of 220,000 electric cars in 2024.
