Nowadays, automatic cars are very popular because they are easier to drive than manual cars.

However, many people unknowingly use the gears incorrectly, which can damage the transmission and shorten its lifespan. Here are some things you should avoid when driving an automatic car.

1. Quickly press on the accelerator pedal.

Quickly press on the accelerator pedal to accelerate or increase the speed of the car. The transmission must cope with the sudden increase in torque. If done frequently, it will have a negative effect on the transmission in the long run.

2. Shift to D or R while the vehicle is still stationary.

Moving the vehicle forward or backward while the vehicle is still stationary will cause the transmission to work harder and may cause impacts that may damage internal parts. Therefore, the vehicle should be completely stopped before shifting forward - reverse.

3. Accelerate before shifting into D gear.

Trying to accelerate quickly by accelerating the engine and then shifting into D gear will greatly affect the life of the automatic transmission. This will cause the transmission and other components in the transmission system to be severely impacted, causing the parts to deteriorate quickly.

4. Use the N and let the car roll.

Putting the car in neutral (N) before the car has completely stopped will cause the gear oil pump to stop working, reducing the lubrication of the parts in the gear set, causing heat to build up and possibly causing gear wear.

5. Towing a car with rotating wheels

Towing an automatic transmission car requires lifting the drive wheels so that they do not rotate. For example, if it is a front-wheel drive car, the front wheels must be lifted above the ground and only the rear wheels can rotate. This is because most towing cars do not leave the engine running, which will cause the transmission oil pump to not work, causing severe friction between the gears inside the transmission and causing high heat. If towed for a long distance, the transmission will definitely die.

If you want an automatic transmission car to last longer, you should avoid behaviors that may damage the transmission system and always check the condition of the transmission.
