When a car accident happens, the first thing that usually comes to mind is "car insurance" to cover various expenses as stated in the policy we chose.

The format of car insurance claims that many people may have heard of frequently are "Fresh Claims" and "Dry Claims".

Some people may wonder about these, what type of claims they are. Today, Motorist will explain it for you.

Fresh Claims

“Fresh Claims" are insurance claims involving two parties, occurring immediately with both parties present. They must involve collisions between vehicles.

When an accident happens, you must contact the insurance officer to go to the scene immediately for inspection and data collection. The insurance company will then proceed with the claim notification paperwork. Once you receive the claim notification, you can take your car for repair at an affiliated garage or service centre according to the policy's conditions.

* The claim notification form is valid for 1 year

Dry Claims

“Dry Claims" are non-collision insurance claims that occur after an accident has passed. They mostly involve minor incidents where there is no other party involved, such as hitting a tree or scratching the car body against a roadside object.. It's not necessary to call the insurance officer to the scene immediately.

When you need to repair the car, inform your insurance company of the date, time, location, and cause of the accident. Then, notify them of the date you want to bring the car in for repair at a garage or service centre according to the policy's conditions. You can then bring your car in for repair at the appointed date and time.

* Most dry claims are covered under comprehensive insurance only. However, it depends on the terms and details of each policy.

The documents required for car insurance claims are:
  • Car insurance policy
  • Copy of vehicle registration
  • Copy of driver's licence
